My Home Soil.......

MY HOME SOIL

My home soil,
My constant toil,
In thoughts, in aches of mind;
What in thee that has my soul to bind?
My home soil,
Blessed is thy toil.

Africa! When shall thy people embrace thee?
Constantly, on board I see them, all wanting to flee.
Hence I looked to the dreams of our “fathers”.
But in our present state, it seemeth vague without the ladders.

Where then is thy salvation, Oh Africa!
My tears by day, my sleeplessness by night,
When will thou yield to thy “fathers’” prophecies?
“The unification of Africa is all I seek”;
This constantly makes my soul meek.

To the youths must I look upon, to the future must I take a peek,
Alas! Scared and terrified am I, the future sometimes looks bleak.
Is this another passing generation?
Who are not given to the cries of the nation?

From whence cometh Africa’s dawn;
That falls like the dew on the lawn?
Unto that day I seek,
Until then my soul remains meek.
Still worshipping, on the grounds of;
My home soil.
